Our cruise stopped at Safaga for an overnight stay and we chose the Luxor Day Tour. Our tour operator contacted us a few days before and suggested that we stay overnight in Luxor as the drive in was long and we could see much more over that time period. We agreed. Our drivers met us at the port and we began the journey to Luxor. Drive was nearly three hours and neither spoke much English so we enjoyed the desert scene and the many mounds/bumps in the road to control traffic and act as check points. On the outskirts we met Ash, the tour operator , who spoke English very well and took us to meet our guide,Salaam, an Egyptologist, who also spoke very good English. He would be with us for the two days. Our first stop was at the Karnak Temple where we were awestruck by the structures and size of the area. Salaam was priceless. The information and explanations were excellent. His knowledge was mindboggling. His use of an IPad to enhance his explanations was most helpful . He was also very helpful when it came to getting my husband and his scooter over stairs or inclines. This allowed us to take in everything we wanted to see and do and more. After a late lunch break, we visited the Luxor Temple, another phenomenal area. Salaam made sure we were in the right place when the sun set to provide a spectacular photo opportunity. After a short rest at the hotel, Ash had a lovely surprise for us. We got a horse drawn caleche driven by a young man who called his horse Lamborghini, to the market where Ash met us and took us through the souk. He advised on what was quality and what was not and even helped us get better prices. A stop for a lemon blueberry mint shisha at a local shop completed an excellent day. The next day, our driver picked us up after breakfast. We had an early start, met our guide and made our way to the Valley of the Kings. Salaam continued to fill our minds with information. It was a hot day but being a private tour we were able to bypass large groups and get around more efficiently. Visiting 3 different tombs and having the differences explained was most interesting. We also had the opportunity to see how papyrus was/is made and then painted and to visit a basalt carving shop. Our driver made sure we were returned in plenty of time to our ship. We would highly recommend this tour with Ash if you really wish to learn about Luxor and avoid large groups. He ensured that we got the best experience in a short time period.
Wij waren met drie kleinkinderen 9 dagen in Egypte. Het was een fantastische vakantie en alles was prima geregeld. Het programma was een mooie balans tussen cultuur, avontuur en relaxen. We hebben veel geleerd, mooie en interessante plaatsen bezocht, en gesloten van de ballontocht en de kameelrit. Ik raad Luxor Tours van harte aan en bijzonder Ash, een perfecte reisleider!

Ash gave us a bespoke tour of Luxor to suit all of our needs. We had four adults on the tour (one in 60s and one in 80s). We wanted an efficient tour without unnecessary hurdles of tourists. We also wanted to skip uninteresting things (eg tour of alabaster shops) and make sure that the older people in our group are weren’t tiring out Ash met all of our needs with a tailor-made tour. First, he met me the evening before at our hotel lobby and created the itinerary and prices out. Then, I paid him the total amount for our group using my credit card, and the following day his crew picked us up in their van and handled all ticket purchases. Great tip: pay extra to see the Tomb of Seti I and also the Tomb of Nefertari. The lack of crowds and the beauty of the tombs justify the extra cost. Ash’s crew took us there first while we had all our energy at the beginning of the day, and the sights were STUNNING.
A normal tour adapted for a wheelchair user.
After excellent communications through the booking process with Ash relating what we could and couldn’t do with a wheelchair we were met at the cruise ship and driven to Luxor. Ash suggested a night stop so as to pace out tour better as my wife is a full time wheelchair user - what a great suggestion and it made it so much more relaxed. The tour of the sites around Luxor was excellent and our tour guide was a fountain of knowledge. The driver assisted me with lifting my wife in/out of the vehicle and allowed her to participate fully in all aspects of our tour. Ash melts tabs on us throughout the tour making sure we were looked after the whole time and his attention to detail was very good.
